Madrid airport Information

Madrid Airport ParkingThe airport dates back to 1928 and owes its name to the village of Barajas located 12 kilometres to the north east of Madrid where the first hangar was opened in 1927. The first terminal was built to accommodate the 30,000 passengers passing through each year.

The Madrid-Barcelona service, known as the Air Bridge, was the busiest route in the world in 2007 with 971 flights per week. However, in February 2008 the Madrid-Barcelona train route became more popular with the high speed train completing the journey in two and a half hours.

Madrid is the Iberian Peninsula's strategic point for international flights heading mainly for Latin America and Europe. In 2007, Madrid airport handled more than 50 million passengers.

How to get there by road from the M-40, exit 9A at the A-2 (Barcelona motorway) and then exit 12 at the M-14.

Connection between terminals: Terminals T1, T2 and T2 are connected by moving walkways. The new T4 Terminal building is linked to the T$S Satellite building by an Automatic Underground Train (APM). There is a free bus service connecting all the terminals and long stay car parks.
