A hard case!

Two Polish citizens operating a novel burglary operation were caught by Spanish police. One of the pair would act as a passenger and place a large suitcase into the stowage area on Barcelona's airport shuttle buses. However his suitcase contained not clothes and other personal items but his partner in crime. The human "luggage" would then get out of his container during the 90 minute trip and break into other genuine passengers' luggage to rob them of valuable items which he stowed in a hitherto empty bag brought along for the purpose. The "passenger" accomplice would then reclaim the big bag at the end of the trip. The police were tipped off by a suspicious bus operative. When they opened the large suitcase they were amazed to find the burglar inside, “doubled up almost like a contortionist.” Kitted out for his "work" with a headlamp and sharp tool to open bags, he claimed that he was travelling as luggage because he couldn’t pay the bus fare!
